U2…

>

…I must admit, I’ve been looking forward to going to this concert the DAY after I bought tickets!
I was insanely jealous when U2 was in Toronto and I was living in Pangnirtung and friends on Facebook where posting that they got to go to the show, and I was not going!  I guess good things come to those that wait!  I asked Anne if she wanted to catch this concert with me.. and she agreed… I said, “want to get a seat? or chance the floor?” She said, “floor is good!”  So that’s what we did… I think my ticket was about $72 and change… and it was so worth it!
I found this diagram/picture of the stage set up… I didn’t get any really great shots of that!  Anne and I arrived down at the stadium about 5:30pm (concert started at 7pm)… there was a HUGE line for the Gate 4 where we were suppose to enter… (people had been waiting since 6am, some had slept there over night!)… We ended up on the other side of the stadium waiting in the cue… (I thought at that moment we’d be at the back of the field!)… Then they opened up Gate 3, for field access…and we were probably in the first 50 or so that go in from that side… we went quickly up to the centre of the stage, in the 3rd row at the front of the ramp that circled the stage!  I couldn’t believe it… Then the waiting/pushing started!  Some of the people around us had indeed camped out, had numbers on their hands for the line that they waited in outside!  Anne and I were just plain lucky!
we were probably just in front of where the GA was in this photo… (but this wasn’t the Winnipeg venue)
Shortly after 7pm “the Fray” opened up for U2…
The LED screen above the main stage…
At first I wasn’t 100% sure if I had heard of “the Fray” then I found myself singing along.. and I realized that I had known them from Greys… (HERE is the video from Greys!)

I’m thinking I definitely need to check out their album a bit closer…
We had about an hour of stage set up for U2.. the coolest thing was to see the lightening guys… get into their rigs… (they lowered from the legs of the ‘claw’ they got in and were then taken HIGH above the stage to sit just under the claw…) I think they had some of the ‘best’ seats in the house!!!

Testing out the equipment…

Before U2 came out.. the started showing random facts on the big screen… one of the people didn’t spell Winnipeg right!  (Bono came out and apologized and said we know you aren’t WINE-PEG!!) But there were a few ‘boos’ in the crowd… and also at one point they referred to the MB State (not sure where that is!)

I’m not sure where these stats came from.. but thought that the ‘blogs posts today’ was kind of interesting..

Anne and I posed for a photo…. (it was hard to get the WHOLE stage in because of where we were standing!)

The Snow birds came and flew over the stage before U2 came out… they circled the stadium a few times… it was really really cool!!!

I love this photo.. because it shows how many people were around!

The anticipation… smoke started.. and some music…. where are they going to come from? (the bridges moved during the concert.. and connected the main stage to the ramp outside of it)..

U2… does the walk to the stage… firsts glimpses on the big screen!

….The Edge… the first of many ‘walks’ on the ramp in front of me!

Bono looked at ME!!! (and i got a photo…)

Adam Clayton and The Edge…

Coming over the bridge… (I wasn’t the only one taking cell phone photos!)

Bono singing in front of me…

Bono–I think one of the only people that can pull off sunglasses at night… but how does he see!?

The screen at one point in the concert separated.. and made this ‘honey-comb’ over the main stage… it was pretty awesome…. and looked way cool.. with the flashing lights…

The show went on with U2 playing ‘under’ the honey-comb…

One last shot of Bono… (hmmm perhaps I was a bit star struck?) Although one of my co-workers was out for dinner and saw Bono (face to face) as she was leaving the same restaurant he was arriving at!

Larry Mullen Jr… takes his bongo on a walk around the ramp!

It was the 50th anniversary of Amnesty International.. and there was a really neat tribute to the work that Amnesty does in the world!

This was the end of the show… They did return to do an encore after a little video clip, animation thing!

All in all.. I had a blast thanks for coming with me Anne!  I danced and sang.. and loved it!! (ear plugs and all!)

*All the above photos were taken with my iPhone 3Gs or my first point and shoot digital camera it has 5.1 mega pixels of greatness!!!

Easter in Clandeboye!

>Catching up…

I had a fabulous Easter Sunday with Conni and Brent and their family and friends!  I arrived and had a bit of ‘homework’ to work on… so sat in the sun on their porch and soaked it all in!  It was great to be part of a family on such a ‘family’ type weekend!!  Conni has become my ‘Manitobian’ Mum!!

Yummy dinner… Conni thanks for preparing an amazing meal… the stuffing from a box was soooo darn good!!! (as well as everything else!)

Conni made a new cake with lemon icing… and it was and angel food cake—soooo great!!! 🙂

After dinner we all went outside to the ‘percussion project’ made by Joe and friends… in the fall… it’s way fun!!!

Brent and Conni’s Mum are getting their groove on…

Here I am… notice how EVERYONE else has left? that’s because I make great music on my own… and they just wanted to stand back and enjoy it… (well maybe that’s not the real reason– maybe this girl just doesn’t have the ability to keep a beat going..or join one that’s already started… I have always marched to my own drum beat! lol)

Now for some of the random shots of the day….

Pussy willows have always been this magical mystical thing for me… my first memories are tied to spring walks with my mum and grandma, cutting them down…and then taking in bunches of them for my teachers… (weird what you remember eh?) This probably happened in like kindergarten to about grade 2!

This is a ‘rose hip’?…
my Manitoban mum told me like 3 times.. but I still can’t remember–sorry MB Mum!!

We went walking over to where the remnants of a burned down house use to stand.. there was all kinds of metal, glass and random stuff throughout the forest floor… I was tryin to go see the creek..but couldn’t… so Conni took a photo of me… and I took one of her… even though we were quite close… it was pretty full of trees!

Some of the random things from years gone by…

Dilly… at the creek…

Joe found some ‘treasures’ at the old house site… and brought back these metal things to add to the percussion project!

My MB Mum and I waving on the road….

…cute kitty…it’s really too bad cats make me sneeze~!

Conni asked me to take a few photos of her family for me… so here are some of my favs from that short session… (there’s more on a disc for you Conni!)
Getting ready to JUMP!!!!

Put your hands in the air… and JUMP!!!!

Dear Conni and Brent..

Thanks again for opening your home to me over the past year and half!
Your friendship means so much to me!  Keep in touch…  🙂 luv, Sarah

>Catch up from the end of the May 2-4 Weekend!…

>

One thing I’ve noticed lately… is life just keeps on moving, and as much as you want it to SLOW down…it keeps on moving and here is the end of May…when I feel like I just started this month yesterday!!!… I’m trying to learn to enjoy the moments–and seize on EVERY opportunity because you never know when the next one comes up! (hence a whirl-wind weekend in Ontario)… I do know that I have the tendency to overbook and keep my life jam packed with activity… partly because I feel energized with people around, and activities to go to… BUT lately I think it’s time to SLOW it down a bit!!!
Ok… so where was I? yes… last weekend….
Last weekend I was in Ontario… to see family and friends–but mainly to go to Benjamin’s 3rd Birthday party!  My sis-in-law, Dana.. made this AWESOME AMAZING BEE cake!!! It was the first time that I ate fondant icing–it was actually YUMMY!!!
One of the things I’ve been adjusting to is life with a MacBook… it’s that thing I’ve wanted forever..and now that I have it–well there have been some FRUSTRATING moments, I won’t lie… some FRUSTRATED txts to friends.. but for the most part me and apple have found my groove!!! Which is pretty awesome~!!
Part of the adjustment/learning that has helped is that I purchased a year’s worth of one-to-one apple tutoring with my new Mac… and because I’m going to be moving away from an apple store in 8 weeks.. (I’ve been going in each week for ‘lessons’) and BOY has it helped!!! (I can also stay after my lessons to work–and USE the FREE internets which is another BONUS!)
Today I learned… lots about Aperature… and learned how to do the following…
Benjamin was given by Samuel a wheel for their ‘clubhouse’ in the backyard!
Samuel was so excited that they could ‘share’ this wheel!!!
It’s pretty cool eh? I also learned a pile of more stuff that I can do with editing… the possibilities are endless!!!
It was soooo good to see my mum!!! and be able to fly back with the curtains she found me, so I’ll be able to block out the 24hour sunlight!
My Grandma, Mum and I…. it was great to have us all in one spot together!!! 🙂
Grandma–the breadmaker made it safe and sound in my suitcase… thanks SOOOO MUCH!! I can’t wait to try it out!!! 🙂
I also made two other stops on my trip…
I stopped in Grimsby to meet a fellow blogger, Lindsay and pick up some hats she had made me… (I’ll have to blog about that soon–as they are really cool and I need to get some shots of me in them!!)
The 2nd stop was to meet Amanda and Ian’s new baby… he’s adorable!!! So sweet… I was happy to be able to cuddle and snuggle and NOT get puked on… (he’s a projectile kind of guy!)… While I was there… I was in more of a conversation mode… and didn’t take many photos!  But here is one that I thought was pretty cool!
Here is Hayden… soooo adorable!!! 🙂
Amanda and her boy….
It was a great weekend… way too short!  Coming home my flight was 2 hours delays…thanks to Pierson International shutting-down-a-few-runways-for-construction-on-a-long-weekend!  (nope not bitter!)…because I was there so early, (around 8pm and my fight was scheduled for 11:15pm) the West Jet check in lady, gave me a coupon to get into the First Class Lounge at a discount… yes, I still had to pay–but for $22 +HST I had access to a QUIET, AIR CONDITIONED lounge, tons of FOOD–(options from breakfast to dinner and snacks) Drinks–alcoholic as well as pop, juice… plus free wifi… another good choice I made!!!
I finally made it back to the ‘peg by 12;40am and was in bed by 1:30am!!! again, life keeps on moving–work is busy… but I wouldn’t have it any other way!!!
The other thing I’m trying to figure out is life without internet and cable at home!  Normally this wouldn’t phase me…but when I woke up this morning it was weird not to watch tv for a bit!  This also means I’ll have to be creative on how I get my blogs done and posted!!!
**edited to add two photos of Amanda and Hayden!***

Helen and Mark’s Wedding…

>My photo-friend Ryan… asked me to join him at his friends wedding on May 13… He had been asked to be the ‘official’ photographer, and wanted to know if I could come as his 2nd shooter and date.  Weddings are so much fun, and liked the idea of not being the “official” photographer but still be a shooter at a wedding… so told him I was all in!

I had an awesome day… Helen and Mark’s wedding was so beautiful… the weather that day could have been nicer… it was rainy, wet, cold and at one point looked like it was slushy snow!!! But that was the only downer in the day.

I wanted to post some of my favourites from the day…I’m not going to say much.. as I think the photos speak for themselves! ENJOY! 🙂 S

…at the church…
..standing in the cold and rain… at the Mint!

Helen was such a beautiful bride!
A bit of an artsy shot…

…wedding party at the Reception Hall…it was a really awesome venue!

The next two photos remind me of something you’d see in a high fashion ad… I like them!

one of the bridesmaid rested her bouquet in her shoes!
just a little bit of bling! 🙂

waiting for the party to begin… (the food was so amazing!)
