Wordless Wednesday XVI: Boomer

Holiday Hangover…

Today I arrived back home in Pang… I had a night in Iqaluit, as the weather was bad yesterday in Pang so my flight was cancelled.  It was great to catch up with friends… and enjoy one last meal at a restaurant!  I also met my friend’s new puppy..he’s so adorable and had a spunky little personality!

Because everyone loves a cute puppy…here’s some more photos.  In my friend’s own words…this puppy is an “Iqaluit Special” it’s got a bit of husky in him, and probably a mix of something else! But I have to say he’s 100% cute…

I ended my vacation like it started… the first and last legs of my crazy travel was done on an Air Nunavut plane! (Canadian North’s regular plane had a mechanical Air Nunavut was contracted  to do their scheduled flight.)  Here’s a shot of the plane after we landed in Pang…

Air Nunavut has a MUCH smaller plane..that doesn’t have a barrier between the pilots and people… so both flights I ended up sitting directly behind them.  This time the sun was starting to shine (my flight to Iqaluit in December it was pitch BLACK the entire flight…doesn’t help for taking a photo).  This morning the sun was starting to shine…so I took a few photos before I decided I wanted to sleep for a bit. I woke up just in time to watch the landing, and it was pretty cool to see the approach out the front windows of the plane!

After getting to my house, I quickly put my frozen food from my cooler into the freezer…grabbed a snack, my travel coffee mug and water bottle and went into to work! It was a great day…so awesome to catch up with coworkers and share holiday stories.

Tonight, as I cooked supper I started to shift through my mail from the last month.  I LOVED coming home to a PILE of mail… a copy of the Manitoba Child Care Association’s publication ‘Bridges’ and was excited to find the article I had written inside!  In the photo you will see a stack of Christmas Cards in the middle–that was an AWESOME surprise!  So many photos of friends, and family… Then there was the manitory junk mail–a “Walmart” flyer–but the nearest Walmart is in Ottawa, so not really sure why Walmart makes ‘in-store’ only flyers available to us here in Pang? Then there were the bills, and regular statements…and only ONE of the Christmas Cards that I sent out was returned to sender….(sorry Aunt Anne and Uncle Andrew–I’ll re-mail you one as soon as possible!)

Then there is my other suitcase that I need to unpack… I’m a bit of a procrastinator in packing and in un-packing!  But think I might sort this suitcase out before I end up getting the next 3.  (There wasn’t room on the plane for all 5 of my pieces, so had to decide which 2 I wanted to travel with–but the other 3 would follow as soon as possible. I picked the cooler full of frozen meat and my black suitcase because it had my toiletry bag in it!)

As the title of this blog says… I feel the ‘holiday hangover’ but it’s so great to be home!

Welcome 2012…

As I mentioned on my birthday I have been working on a creating a list of 32 things to do when I’m 32. I decided to take this approach rather than make list of resolutions for 2012, because everyone does that!  I know some of these things are a mixture of dreams, goals and resolutions…or even a ‘bucket list’ of some sorts..but they are all things I do want to do, and why not make it happen this year. Knowing me I’ll probably blog and let you know when I complete some of these things.
