Five Likes, 5 Likes…

One of the things I did while I was on holidays was catch up on some ‘current’ YouTube videos with my friend Jen.  We spent like 2 hours watching videos…on her TV via her X-box.  Why you might ask? Well I rarely watch YouTube Videos… with only 10gigs of internet a month.  I have to be selective how use it so I don’t run out! So that means limited YouTube.

There were MANY videos we watched that were so funny…but this one, I laughed so hard I cried. Then we had to watch it again.  I think it made it even better that my friend Jen loves hates Nickelback so much! So I think you my readers should watch it…because it’s way funny.

Now I have a confession, I use the instagram app on my iPhone and I love it! I downloaded it this past June and have loved using it the past 6months or so. The thing I like about this app it’s an easy way to share photos to Facebook and Twitter.   Over my holidays I started using # tags for some of my photos.  And all of a sudden I started to get lots of ‘likes’ from people that don’t follow me.   I posted a photo with a #Toronto tag and then heaps of people started ‘liking’ my photos, and I might have even gotten 5 likes in like 5mins! I suppose that’s just the way this social media photo-sharing app works.  It is kind of funny though…

But don’t worry I draw the line and have never taken photos of duck…but have the rear end of a polar bear! I do love me some filters though…lo-fi is a good choice too! Ok, I’ll stop… but glad I can smile and make fun of myself over my love of this app!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!!!

>

I love Mexican food… and today I felt like going to my favourite Burrito place near where I live!  I could be all cool and say that I remembered it was Cinco de Mayo BUT I didn’t…

…if you love burritos, and live in Winnipeg then you NEED to check these guys out!  (they are at River and Osbourne–beside the ‘gas station theatre’..address HERE)…

…of course you need to bring them home to enjoy the end of the day sun…while eating on your balcony!!

So good… seriously.. You need to try one of these things!!!! (it’s one of my haunts when I don’t feel like cooking!)…

Well I’m off to watch the Canuck Game… it’s 1-1…at the end of the 1st…should be a good game!

Mum’s HERE!!

>

On Thursday morning.. my mum arrived from Ontario…
taken today at the Forks during our Ride!
I had a crazy day at work..so wasn’t able to pick her up at the airport. So organized her with a list of instructions/address to my apartment, arranged with the super in my building to let her in… and then I had to wait for the super to call to say she arrived! Her plane landed at 9:37am.. and by 10:35am I had a call–mum was at my apartment.  Let’s just say the rest of the day was good, but I kept thinking I can’t wait to get home!!!
Sunday at the Forks… self portrait…
We headed out for Thai…where I had my B-day dinner… and had a ‘FEAST’ of food!  Friday, I got up and headed to work… and then we headed to the Moose Games on Friday and then Saturday night!
These shots were taken with my iPhone… a quick shot of the warm-up!
Saturday night the Moose retired Mike Keane’s #12 Jersery, and raised it to the roof.

Mum and I were there… had tickets in the ‘upper’ bowl.. it was sold out house!

My cousin got a goal in that game.. and then we all went out to dinner after! We didn’t get home until 1:30am…(apparently my ‘late’ nights are rubbing off on my mum!)

Sunday morning, after a lazy start we headed down to the Forks!  I had what has become my FAVOURITE thing… from the Pancake House!  Banana Choc. Chip Pancakes—have you had them? If not.. you NEED to try them!  which always remind me of Jack Johnson’s “Banana Pancake” song…

We wandered around.. up to the look out… and then sat on a bench where we sat at Easter last year when Mum came out to visit.. You can look at those photos HERE (I had a bit redder hair!) it was a gorgeous way to spend the afternoon…it was about +5C!

There were TONS of people out on the River Trail…

..a shot of the look out tower, at the Forks…

We decided to go on the ‘free’ wagon ride… pulled by two horses!  It was great fun… during our short ride.. it started to snow, the temps had dropped as well!  After some hot chocolate and a look at the fantastic toy shop… we headed home!

All in all it’s been a busy but FUN few days!! 🙂 I’m sure there will be much more fun happening over the remaining days she is out visiting!!

Queen of the Hill…

Just found these photos from my phone that I took at the end of last week…

They are pretty weird photos… just snow piles around the parking lot at work. But they have a bit more meaning to me than that!  But early last week every morning and night as I walked past these snow piles… my mind slipped back into the past…and memories of recess at my public school…

That’s when a pile of snow would transform into anything we wanted it to… Often it became a test of who could race to the top of the hill…and then stay… Oh the games of king/queen of the hill..
Other times it wasn’t as violent… but more a spot to stop and create steps, and/or caves in the side of the huge hill…and get lost in the fantasy world my friends and I would create…
On Friday, it was way warm.. (around +2C) and the snow banks were starting to diminish in size… I took these photos… wishing that I had taken the time earlier in the week to RUN up to the top of the hill. It would have been better because the snow would have been still solid—because of the crazy cold temps!  Maybe next big snow… I’ll be going out there, and reaching the top…perhaps I might even shout… I’m the Queen of the Hill…of course just for old times sake!
