>Sometimes, when the stars align…

>…friends that live in different cities manage to be in the same city… and AWESOME nights happen!

Yesterday I flew into the Tdot… and had a fabulous lunch and afternoon with my bro and sis-in-law!  Then I had a fabulous night out… with two fabulous friends!
I had found out that my friend, Lauren (from Buffalo) was in town visiting her younger brother…

and my friend, Emily (from Peterborough) found out that both of us were in town so drove to the Tdot…so that we could all get together!!!

With all THREE of us in the SAME city again… we got together for dinner and some drinks!  First we all met at the Greyhound Station downtown… and then headed over to Lauren’s bro’s new condo/loft in Liberty Village!

After catching each other up on our lives from what had happened since the summer… (remember those fun times? you could read about them HERE..).

We headed for dinner… then back to Jeff’s place… where we had a little photo shoot!  Jeff’s friend, Chris, kindly took these candid photos!!!

At this point… things started to go a bit wrong….

..and then we sort of ended up falling over… those new hard wood floors (Jeff just moved in 2 weeks earlier)..were pretty slippery!!! That must have been the reason!!!!

but we recovered really fast…
Make a model face? hmmmm I’m not quite sure my ‘angry’ smile really will work it for me! lol
I took some shots for Jeff and Lauren… they thought their parents might want the next two for their Christmas Card next year… I think the first one is definitely in the running!!

With this one coming in a close second!!!

 …hmmmmm or possibly this one?

We then went to C’est What… and had a few beers… I was in the minority for liking the lighter stuff… everyone else really liked the heavier darker beers… I could try to sound all educated about beers and tell you what they were etc.. but well I’m not… I did take a sip of that dark, heavy stuff that they called beer, but man it is so not for me… I stuck with my raspberry pils and an apricot-something…they were yummy!!

Emily and Lauren… so good to see you again!!! (I’m glad we managed to get together TWICE in one year!!)

Can’t wait until the next times in 2011!!!

>In the Car-Wash…

>Today I got a Birthday/Christmas present from my friend Ryan… he taught me how to use a car-wash… now before you all start think I’m a crazy girl or something… I’m not!  Remember back HERE when I told you about my fear of car washes? Then I had found THIS place… but I really wanted to conquer the fear, and learn to do it myself… and this is that story!

After lunch, with our left overs… Ryan is all smiles for this adventure!

Here I am…excited, but crazy nervous…with that irrational but REAL to me fear that MILO will loose his windshield in a car wash!

All that driving to Portage la Prairie, has made Milo really, REALLY dirty!!!

Exhibit A:

 Exhibit B:

At this point I was shaking.. and not really sure I could do it… but with Ryan laughing at me.. I managed to line up Milo’s wheels, and then figure out how to reach over and punch in my code–that was hard bc Milo is so ‘low’ to the ground… and it was so HIGH!

As the car was sprayed with water… I took some photos… and snapped this.. I think it distracted me enough… so I actually started to sort of ‘enjoy’ the car-wash!

mmmm the smell and fun colours of the soap, wax and what-not!

 …all washed away…

TADA!!! look at Milo.. he’s soooooo SHINY!!!

Thanks, Ryan… I think I can possibly do this on my own now!!

..and wouldn’t you know it.. just after this…it started to snow, and the roads got all icky, slushy… so Milo isn’t so shinny, but at least I have the confidence to take him through on my own!!

>Cheers to another year!

On my Birthday, I went out  to dinner at a Thai Place… with some of my friends that I work with!  It was a great the midst of our crazy work/holiday/schedules…(some friends couldn’t make it and I understand-part of the joys of having a birthday in December, it’s a busy month!)…
can you guess which one is mine?
I took time for a little ‘self’ portrait!  It’s really hard for me to think I’m another year older…but for now… I’m just thankful that I’m healthy, happy and content with life… I have great friends, and family–what more could a girl ask for? I have a job I love… and I’m constantly having new adventures… I can’t wait to see what adventures come my way this next year!
I thought I had taken a photo of my food that night… but apparently I didn’t!? BUT I did get a shot of my dessert!!! There was no ‘traditional’ cake..but who needs that when you have deep fried banana goodness on vanilla ice cream!!! (sooooo yummy!, and Yes, I did share!)

Here we all are.. some of my ‘peeps’ in the ‘peg!!! I’m so glad I have met you, and get to work with you!

Thanks again ladies for making my birthday EXTRA special!!! It was so much fun to have dinner with you!  We should do it more regularly… not just for birthday occasions!! 🙂

>It’s my BIRTHDAY!!!

>I have been thinking a lot about my EPIC birthday weekend last year… and looking at the photos, and well remembering the photos that were not taken… has brought a smile to my face!!!

Later tonight, I get to make new memories..and have fun with friends and co-workers here in Winnipeg!  And I can’t wait, to see what another year will bring…

..just in case you didn’t know… I so know how to ROCK a Birthday hat!

>O Christmas Tree… O Christmas Tree…

Today I put up my Christmas Tree… having a December birthday my whole life, at some point there was an ‘unspoken’ rule in our house.. “No Christmas trees up til AFTER my birthday.” Thinking back, we always had real trees, so it probably made sense to put them up after December they would last until the New Year!  Well today I broke away from that tradition, I figured it was time to put it up!
I didn’t get a chance to put up this tree last year.   This was because all my stuff was in storage in Toronto..and I was living up in Nunavut!  Instead on my birthday weekend in Iqaluit–I bought myself this HUGE tree…and decorated it with what I had… *you can see that HERE
Without any further ado, I give you my Christmas 2010 TREE!!!!
One of the things I’ve done for ages, is when I travel… I always seem to get a Christmas ornament. Last year was only one of 2 Christmas’ I have ever been away from my family… So, while I was at a craft sale in Iqaluit…I met a lady who made these ornaments..out of caribou bone… (I had her put Pangnirtung (instead of Iqaluit) and on the other side… it has 2009 and my name on it!!!)

The other Christmas I spent away from home was Christmas 2003…(wow seems like YESTERDAY!)…but I picked up this ‘Santa ridin’ a kangaroo with a swag’ while I was living down under!

Different view… from later tonight…oh it looks so pretty!!!
The weather here in Winnipeg is definitely nippy… it was -22C plus a wind chill… but that seems just about right to me… can’t have a ‘warm’ Christmas now can we!?
PS… did I tell you it’s only 6 more sleeps til I’m back in Ontario for the holidays?!
